On September 6-7
Something Exciting
Is Happening In Richmond
Richmond Open Studios is a free, city-wide, volunteer-led event which gives artists the opportunity to show and sell their work directly to the public at a table located at each of our partner venues, or at their individual and collective Richmond studios. A map will be published detailing the location of each studio and partner venue.
Artists can choose whether to sell at partner venue tables on 9/6 and/or at a Richmond studio on 9/6-7. Registered artists enjoy
The lowest registration fee for Open Studios
Participation in the optional ROS preview exhibition
Optional Individual promotion on local press, VAR’s socials, website and newsletter
Free ROS workshops, helping you price your work and get organized
How To Register
Registration opens on March 15 and ends on June 4. The cost is a $40 flat fee. There is also an option to “pay it forward” if you would like to help with another artist’s registration. To complete your registration you must
Be a resident of Richmond or its unincorporated areas OR have a studio* located in Richmond or its unincorporated areas
Be a VAR member: Have a free profile in our directory
Attend at least one of the informational sessions - see insert below for dates
Because we expect many participants this year, we will be holding two informational in-person sessions and one remote session. The sessions are one-hour long and will take place in lieu of assistance over email or the phone. You must attend one of these in order to complete your registration. We will help you generate a profile for our artist directory, if you don’t already have one.
We keep our registration fee low to enable all individual artists to participate. For this reason, all artists showing in a collective space must register individually.
*A studio can be many things. If you make your art in Richmond we don’t care if it is a garage, a kitchen, or a large building, but you must provide an address
Submit Your Work to The ROS Preview Exhibition and Get Promoted
VAR members registered for ROS can opt to participate in the ROS Preview Exhibition and individual artist promotion.
Our Preview Exhibition curator will accept 2 and 3D work created in 2024, 2023 and 2022 that is 18 x 24” or smaller.
The deadline for the electronic submission of these materials is June 2 at 5:00 PM. Incomplete submissions will be rejected. This year, no help or reminders can be provided via email.
If you need help with this, we strongly encourage you to attend any of our three info sessions.
